But the penciled sheets did not seem like nor smell like the library book so she had given it up, consoling herself with the vow that when she grew up, she would work hard, save money and buy every single book that she liked.

About This Quote

When I was a child, I had a book that I really liked. It was a hardback book which was a bit expensive for a child. My parents gave me the money to buy another book and this is what I did. I was happy that they were happy with my choice and thought that it would be enough to have the book that I liked.

After a while, however, I had to buy another book and so on. In the end, I had so many books that I did not have space to put them all in my room. They were all piled up in storage boxes so my family could not see them.

At some point, even though I still had more books than boxes, it became obvious to everyone that I must have started buying books by the time they were too old to remember when I bought them.
